Flat
Correction and the "Mach II LiteBox"
Flat correction is an important
and necessary step when doing CCD imaging. Here are examples of why this is
necessary:

Here is the Mexico portion of the
North American Nebula "without" flat correction…

Here is the actual flat done on a
Takahashi FS-102 using the SBIG ST-8 Camera and the "MachII LiteBox"
…

Here is the image after flat
correction. The flat will correct for dust motes, uneven lighting due to
vignetting and other optical defects.

The "MachII LiteBox" weighs only 1 1/4 lbs. and works with optics up to 10" in diameter. With the "MachII LiteBox" you can produce consistent and proper flats any time during your imaging session. A must have for any CCD imager.. Please visit my webpage for images that I've taken using the "MachII LiteBox". The URL is: http://fth.bounceme.net/mp/astrofred.html
Larry D. of Hollis, NH says:
"Hi Fred, Just a little note to say that the light box works wonders. Very
easy to use, and the flats are comparable to sky flats. It's a nice product and
I am very pleased with it. "
