Pluto

Moving at an angular rate of 4 arcseconds/hour. Magnitude 13.8 @ 99% phase Taken at midnight 6/17/01. Duration of animation is 2 hours. Pluto is moving at roughly 9000 miles/hour. It takes Pluto 248 years to complete one orbit around the Sun.

 

Comet Linear

(Linear C/1999 S4). The animation was taken over a 30 minute period on 7/2/00 at about 2:00am CDST (2H 40' 35" RA, 44 deg 42' 54" Dec). The comet was traveling towards the sun at a rate of approx. 4'/hour.
